ASIC and FPGA Design Acceleration Tools.

An important new technology to feature in SDC's portfolio of technology is the range of powerful ASIC and FPGA
development tools
from Austrian company GE-Research, a member of the MSC group.

Consisting of hardware development platforms and SEmulation, a powerful FPGA design simulation and emulation tool, these tools enable the fast development of powerful FPGA embedded systems.

The Hpe_midi is the most flexible FPGA and ASIC development system available on the market today. The FPGA is contained on a removable module – different modules with 1, 2, 4 and 9 FPGA's are available or under construction.

'Currently we offer modules with ALTERA StratixII ™, StratixIII™ will follow as soon as available. An increasing number of interface boards (Hpe_child Board) guarantees the high flexibility required.

We deliver the Hpe_midi in an enclosure, but the system can be also used without a cover. Via a PCIe X4 connection to a PC, developers can use the SEmulator tool, a new, very efficient and secure way of FPGA and ASIC development. Additional tools will be available in 2007/2008: including JTAG debug tools, High Speed Logic Analyzer and an Assertion Compiler.

Functional Description

SEmulation
The SEmulation technology will be of great benefit to designers building increasingly large and complex FPGAs that do not have the budget for a fully featured emulator but are faced with the need to undertake extensive simulation before committing the design to full production. SEmulation will increase design security and decrease development time without any additional hardware cost.

The HMX1-AS2

The HMX1-AS2 is designed to be used in conjunction with different main boards: the Hpe_midi or the Hpe_maxi. A ALTERA Stratix II device is the main part of this module which can be used for the functional verification of high complex digital circuits and for SEmulation. The connection to the main board is done by two 364 pin Elastomer module connectors. The original ALTERA USB Blaster is already on board.

Functional Description
The following features are the most important parts of this FPGA module:

·One 1020 pin ALTERA® Stratix II FPGA EP2S60F1020C3N or EP2S180F1020C3N (DUT#1)
·Two 364 pin Elastomer module connectors (X1, X2)
·Two 132 pin Elastomer Hpe Child board connectors (X3, X4), one with low voltage differential signals (LVDS) and one for DDR2-SDRAMs
·Flash for the configuration of the FPGA
·CPLD for clock distribution (clock factory), configuration and fan control (PWM)
·CPLD for FPGA Code Protection (FCP) and ALTERA USB blaster
·Advanced Encryption Standard (AES), programmable on customer request

HMX2-AS2

The HMX2-AS2 is designed to be used in conjunction with different main boards: the Hpe_midi or the Hpe_maxi. The connection to the main board is done by two 364 pin Elastomer module connectors. The original ALTERA USB Blaster is already on board.

Functional Description
The following features are the most important parts of this FPGA module:

·Two 1508 pin ALTERA® Stratix II FPGA EP2S180F1020C3N (DUT#1 and DUT#2)
·64 LVDS pairs and 512 single ended signals connects the two FPGA together
·Interconnection designed for highest possible speed
·Two 364 pin Elastomer module connectors (X1, X2)
·Two 132 pin Elastomer Hpe Child board connectors (X3, X4), one with low voltage differential signals (LVDS) and one for DDR2-SDRAMs
