The
Pronghorn SBC is the ideal solution for, integrators and OEMs needing a high-performance, robust, yet low cost Wi-Fi router board. ADI's meticulous attention to detail in the design has resulted in a solid platform that WISPs can confidently use to build out critical infrastructure. Examples of these details are on-board surge protection on Ethernet ports, a fully isolated on-board Power over Ethernet regulator to eliminate ground loops, true extended temperature operation (optional), spread spectrum CPU clocking and generous signal termination and decoupling for a very quiet design, and an on-board power supply that meets the needs of high-power MiniPCI radio cards - whether they are powered from 3.3V or 5V.
The Pronghorn SBC is supported by industry-leading Wi-Fi application firmware stacks, including Wireless Infrastructure Platform (WIP) from Devicescape, IkarusOS from Antcor, WILI-S from Wilibox, OpenWrt, and dot11Linux from Absolute Value Systems. All are Linux-based software platforms enabling implementation of highly functional, secure and manageable wireless networking devices: hotspot access points, access controllers, enterprise access points, fixed 802.11abg wireless network elements, base stations and customer premise equipment (CPE) and high performance, secure point-to-point or point-to-multipoint wireless bridges. These firmware stacks provide the very latest in Wi-Fi security, performance and functionality.
Adding to Pronghorn SBC's standards compliance, Devicescape WIP is the reference standard used in the Wi-Fi Alliance's certification testbed. WIP is not simply standards compliant - it is the standard, and it is available off-the-shelf for Pronghorn SBC customers. ADI can brand the WIP graphical user interface and management pages with your logo and page layout and make other customizations as required.
Customers looking to deploy their own proprietary firmware on Pronghorn SBC may do so using ADI's free source-level SDK – Linux board support packages for MontaVista and SnapGear, as well as RedBoot.

The Pronghorn Metro Main Board -
Next Generation Quad Radio Intel XScale® Wireless Router Board Supporting RoamAD Software
The Pronghorn Metro Main Board is a RoamAD compatible wireless router board based on Intel XScale® technology and is available to system integrators following RoamAD's open Hardware Assembly Guide to build their own multi-radio mesh nodes. The Pronghorn Metro Main Board is fully validated with RoamAD's new WNP version 1.5 software release for Intel XScale® technology. |
|
| |
Pronghorn Metro Main Board is also the ideal solution for developers and OEMs requiring a robust, WiMAX upgradeable quad-radio wireless router board offering significant advantages in capacity, radio flexibility, standards compliance and cost.
ADI's Pronghorn Metro Main Board is the most flexible RoamAD compatible wireless router board on the market. Other router boards are more limited in their radio flexibility, due to inability to fit elongated WiMAX and 900 MHz MiniPCI radios and MiniPCI power supply limitations. Pronghorn Metro is designed to support any MiniPCI radio under worst case conditions and any operating mode - up to and continuous transmission simultaneously on all four radios. By designing Pronghorn Metro Main Board to accommodate worst case usage scenarios, ADI has built significant extra margin into the design that achieves greater robustness no matter what types of radios you are using. We guarantee that Pronghorn Metro can accommodate any MiniPCI radio on the market.
ADI Engineering developed the Pronghorn Metro Main Board from the ground up specifically to enable the full potential of RoamAD's new software release for XScale. Pronghorn Metro is the only RoamAD compatible board capable of fully delivering on key RoamAD features such as flexible quad-band multi-radio support with the ability to accommodate future RoamAD software releases supporting WiMAX and 3.5 GHz.
ADI Engineering is also a turnkey RoamAD hardware supplier, delivering complete network hardware solutions consisting of Pronghorn Metro multi-radio Intelligent Network Nodes (INNs) along with RoamAD compatible Intelligent Network Servers (INS) and Gateway Servers (GS). Please contact us for more information.
For customers not using RoamAD's wireless networking software, ADI offers open-source low-level software support including RedBoot and Linux board support packages.

The Pronghorn Metro INN -
Converged Quad-Band Metro Wireless Node Running RoamAD Software
The Pronghorn Metro is ADI Engineering's innovative new carrier grade converged quad-band metro wireless platform running RoamAD software. Pronghorn Metro features four radios per node in any combination of 900MHz, 2.4 GHz, 4.9 GHz, and 5 GHz to offer unmatched multi-band and multi-radio support to the municipal wireless and public safety markets. ADI's open-architecture and upgradeable hardware and RoamAD's innovative software combine to establish new standards for flexibility, network functionality, and value compared to proprietary mesh wireless products common in the market today. |
|
| |
ADI Engineering developed the Pronghorn Metro from the ground up to enable the full potential of RoamAD's new WNP version 1.5 software release for Intel XScale® technology. Together, Pronghorn Metro and the RoamAD software deliver optimized support for mobile data, video and VoWiFi with roaming and fast-handoff, high level of in-building penetration with three dimensional coverage, and unprecedented time to ROI. Thanks to its specially tailored design, Pronghorn Metro is the only RoamAD compatible hardware platform fully delivering on key RoamAD features such as flexible quad-band multi-radio support with the ability to accommodate future upgrades to WiMAX and 3.5 GHz.
The RoamAD software on Pronghorn Metro nodes is remotely upgradeable to enable easy support for new radio technology and rapid adoption of new application functionality.
ADI makes Pronghorn Metro available in two ways: as a turnkey RoamAD Intelligent Network Node (INN), or as an Intel XScale® technology based motherboard for customers following RoamAD's open hardware assembly guide to build their own INNs.
ADI Engineering is a turnkey RoamAD hardware supplier, delivering complete network hardware solutions consisting of Pronghorn Metro INNs along with RoamAD compatible Intelligent Network Servers (INS) and Gateway Servers (GS). ADI supports RoamAD equipment needs for networks of all sizes. Demonstration networks are readily supplied to enable on-site evaluation of ADI's RoamAD solution prior to volume deployment.
